I start net business on Jan 2005. I work only 4 hours a day using ARC Plus glass. My eye problem starts on October.

My doctor told no problem in my eye. He gives me drops for two month. It not reduces my eye problem.

Now, I think to stop computer working. Please help me solve my eye problem giving best idea.

I think I know the solution.

When you work with the pc, make a 20 seconds break every 20 minutes.

In that break try to focus on a spot that is 6 meters (20 feet) away from you.

You will see a big difference :)

For anyone who gets tired after looking at computer screen too long, yes take breaks, and also buy a very good monitor from viewsonic or good brand w/ low dot pitch like .25.

Also check the level of light in the room, too much or too little can be hard on the eyes too.

Eye for one is getting a time-off for eye strain. Have your vision checked at least by a qualified optometrist. Then you can prevent eye strain by resting in between periods, closing your eyes for 20 minutes with every two hours of staring at the monitor, if you read a lot then you can try and use an LCD monitor instead of a CRT, and lastly don't wash your eyes or face after every computer session...

Why is this "don't wash your eyes/face" thing?

Because then you are rubbing our eyes and making them sore?

I'm not a qualified optometrist, but my optometrist did explain since I asked the same thing that, "When you use our eyes for long periods of time reading or using the computer, the circulation through your head area is high as brain activity is concentrated more there" since sometimes after a long thinking or reading day you notice that the top of your head gets a little warm? and it's just a rapid drop to the temperature on your eye and face area causes your eyes to refocus slowly than normal causing in a slight cross-eye feeling, you dont notice this but after you wash your face with cold or tap water your focus is a little late and you get a slight headache...

In short I think its all about circulation... Im not telling you to stop washing your faces or eyes after reading or using the Computer, it's your prerogative...

Only 4 hours?

Okay here's what you do. Start taking lots of little breaks to give your eyes a rest. Try it, it works.

I am using CRT and my normal hours in front of computer is 12 Hours. So now I think I have to think about TFT.

I am also having these kind of problems. So now I am using anti glare skin and wearing glasses.

I have a problem with my eyes getting tired too.  I saw an ad for 'computer glasses'.  They are slightly tinted and magnified-supposed to help with eye strain.

Mate only TFT is not enough. You have to take break on every one hour. Refresh your eyes with water, do some normal exercise like looking at distant thing. Blink as much as you can, this will lubricate your eyes.

Eyes is really important and you should take care of it. Earlier I was using 15" CRT but now I moved to 17" TFT. I am ready to pay but I do not want to take the risk with my eyes.

i feel that the best way to go is to seek a doctors advice, you said your doctor told you there is nothing wrong with your eyes, so why not try seeking a second opinion...

Eat carrot daily  ;) ... I don't really like carrot too...I also suggest you to give break for your eyes by closing them or seeing to green plants. That help me a lot!

I guess you don't have to stay longer on your computer. I also experience that, sometimes it makes my eyes teary. Rest is really needed. :)

I use to set my monitor brightness at lowest level. It helps me to stay longer in front of my monitor.

Casey----I started doing that too the other day. My brightness level had always been set on the highest, and I have noticed an improvement when I toned it down a bit.

I was using TFT from the very begining as my father is very strict in these kind of issues. He is eye surgeon so you can expect such kind of strictness and suggestion.

I'm able to read on the computer longer when I enlarge the text size (press ctrl and the plus sign). It makes it easier to read because you aren't having to strain to see small text. This goes for reading books and printed media too; it's always easier to use a large magnifying glass, and especially enough light in the background.

Few things which can help you

- Buy at least 17" TFT Monitor
- Use anti glare glass on your monitor
- Take break on every one hour
- Use comfortable chair and keep the minimum distance from your monitor
- Eat green vegetables
- Use some eyedrops to lubricate your eyes.

I wear eye-glassed. I have hypermetropia. Computers make it worse... but nothing to do - computers are everywhere.

Try lowering the brightness on your computer as well try to keep your room cool. Heat will also bring problems with your eyes. I once had the same problem, I just turn on my AC or open a window where fresh air is able to enter. Also try taking breaks and small naps so your eyes can rest.
