Where'd everybody go? No new posts for 2 days?

Surely there's something we could talk about.

Tomorrow's Valentine's Day. Anybody have anything special planned for their sweety?

Shucks, can't think of anything witty to say tonight so I guess I'll just leave it at that for now.

I don't have a sweety, so this will be just another day for me.

Sorry to hear you broke up with yours.

One of our local radio stations asked people to email in their song suggestions that reflect their unhappiness with an ex. Haven't been listening to it today but the commercial they were running was quite funny.

so you two were loveless this valentine's huh? like christmas, i think valentine's day is just a commercial ploy. why do people have to express their love for another in only a day when they can do it everyday of the year?

You are so right. Love is something you can celebrate in every breath you take :)

I agree with those sentiments. One never knows if you or your sweety will even be around next Valentine's; so why wait to tell them how you feel?

The holiday has become so commercialized as to make it almost crass. Last year we had a TV commercial where the fellow did all these wonderful loving things for his girl. It clearly showed how much he loved her. Then the ungrateful wretch pushes him out of the house and slams the door in his face because he didn't buy her whatever it was they were advertising. Disgusting. I would love to have a fellow honor me the way the guy in that commercial did.

There was a similar ad this year but it didn't run as long and was slightly less greed-filled.

On the other end of the spectrum is a grocery store chain where every one of their advertisements are about family and love. Each one has a little story about people coming together. Food is featured but not so much so as to make it obvious. At the very end, the screen goes to black and simply has their name as the announcer says it. We love their ads. Most grocery store advertisements scream about low prices, better selection or some other thing. I wish the first store was closer to our house, we would go their all the time just because.
