A smart combination of ad formats

Hi,

Today I noticed a website using a banner format together with the block of links. I think the block with links is not very effective but this way it looks better:
he placed the links exactly above the banner format, this way it looks like some tabs above the banner.
I added this combined banner format to this site: http://www.shopping-cart-templates.org/

just place both adsense codes, first the links and then the banner and use the same colors for both ads.

It looks like that Google created the link to use it like this, but why don't they tell us?
please let me know what you think (and tell me also if this is cold coffee)

That really looks like it could pull in some extra clicks (on the 'tabs') by people who wonder what is behind the other 'tabs'
I hope you've created some extra channels to keep track of this.

That is a nice idea but do you get paid for clicks on the links? I thought that only opens up a new set of ads.. click on one of them only fetches $$$.

the top row are ads as well, they only look like tabs.

yes but the user have to click the ads on the next page to get paid (that's why I think that this add format will not work).

I agree with mind_nl some user will click the "tabs"

thanks mind_nl to remember me to an add extra channel

Sounds like a very good idea.

The only problem is that this site is not the best for testing it, but anyway let us know your results.

I will try to some sites of mine too (maybe here too)

What I like with this idea is that it makes the adsense block look like a non ad block so the user will certainelly see it :)

nramkr is right. the clicking the ad links will open into a set of ads about that topic.

you will only get paid when your users click the ads which will be displayed afterwards and not the ad links itself. in other words, you need two clicks from your users before getting paid.

me, i dont use them. and would you believe Google sent me an email asking why im not? and encouraging me to place it in my sites too.

and olaf, arent tabs supposed to be on the upper part of the page and not at the bottom?

It would look something similar to eChitika ads. Also Google has a new search engine format that is tabbed.

I know that these link must be clicked twice that's why I used them before (its like reading advertising catalog)

Tab are normally above the content, like the tabs in firefox

Not adsense. Only the normal Google search.
