Adsense Ad share

Currently ads of the thread starter are displayed in the top left. If I started a thread then my ads are displayed even when I view the thread. This carries an element of risk since I could click on my own ads by mistake. Is it not possible to eliminate this possibility? If login user id == thread starter user id then display some other adshare code.

You could either store the number of times I have viewed my thread and then show my ad on some other thread or easier still, display Webdigity ads instead of mine when I view my own thread.

What do you think?

of course everything is possible also this feature, but has this really a big priority? I never clicked a banner to the upper RIGHT

But I have the same problem on my websites, if I develope a new page it might happen that I click one on the adsense banner ...

about your banner, yes the banner runs smooth but is a little bit sad...

I like the banner too ;)

I haven't done this to the ad sharing module, because I thought that if I would do that, people will contact me to say that the ads are not displaying at all :)

Should I?

I think that is an important point, If I see my own ads that it's fine (also for testing new banners)

Eighter way is fine for me, my banner rotator script is keeping track of views/clicks, but it is still nice to see your own banner displayed... (and I'm not punishing myself for clicking my own ads ;D) I guess this could be a problem when displaying AdSense ads, but is anyone using them on their adsharing?

Nick would be able to answer how many people put their adsense codes.

True but what i was worried about was people clicking on their own Adsense ads and then getting banned. That would be sad.

Olaf,

What did you mean by the 'sad' banner comment?

if you don't click so often on your own ads then is nothing wrong (abuse will be punished)

The banner is very basic, not a really nice design... the message is clear if you wait until the end of the sequence.

I am not sure how many people are using their adsense code with our ad sharing module, but I guess they are not too many, and I think that this is the way it should be, as this ad space is better for webmaster related affiliate programs and your own sites :)
