i started with one website which i applied to the Adsense program and got accepted. it is hosted, like all my sites, on free servers. making that website was like a training ground for what i believe is the two most important aspects of making money online with a website: finding good sponsors and getting the right traffic.

i made it live on the internet november 2004. i started promoting it and even thou i manage to get a few visitors to it, they didnt click on my ads. i found out that the ads were not relevant to my site's content and i managed to fix that problem. by february 2005, i already have $5 in my account and even thou its a small amount, it made me happy. i mean, hey, im making money for nothing.

after more than a year, im now earning almost $200 a month with my sites and still growing...

Nice. I mean making $200 after one year is good.

I think you forgot one thing in the rules, which is testing. After a lot of changes in your placements/colors etc you can see some changes in your earnings too :)

"Nice. I mean making $200 after one year is good."

...almost $200/monthly, Nik. not after a year... (just teasing you. i know what you meant to say)

anyways, i dont really have any idea how much you guys make. but my goal is a thousand bucks per month.

I don't think that it matters how much money everyone in here makes.

What really matters is to find a way to make your goal true.

I am making on average about 100-200 with adsense, but since I started using CPA programs, I make more. CPAs are great because there are offers that give more than 100$ for just one client.

"What really matters is to find a way to make your goal true."

its true. thats the reason why i started this thread.

i know there are others here just starting and maybe frustrated with their website right now. don't be. your earnings will grow, just dont stop promoting your site and getting traffic into it.

but dont promote or buy traffc from auto or manual surf exchanges. its useless.

Say that again ;)

Another thing I found great in the proccess is to use the money you make to make your site better. Don't spend the money you make on clothes or whatever, as it is useless.

I mean that with $100 per month you can't live, but you can boost your website.

well, back here in the Phils where the exchange rate is 50 pesos to $1, $200 is already 10,000 pesos. thats the average salary of people here. imagine what you could do with the extra money from Google...

Wow, that's a really good motivation.

After all $200 per month is not so hard to accomplished.

nice job! $200 dollars is sweet!  that pays for probably all your expenses.

it took me a while to make some money from ads but this year has been great so far!  up until this year it has been slow going.  probably didnt make $200 all 2005 :(

keep up the good work and keep us posted!

Thanks. Well actually it pays the server expenses and some advertising, but as I have an office my earnings are not enough to pay all the expenses. But I am very optimistic, and I think that we are on a good way.

Don't worry about your earnings Eric. Earnings are a secondary issue when you are developing sites. I know that this is difficult to understand and maybe sounds foolish, but it is more important to make a site that makes you happy, and that will make it successfull. Money will then start flowing.

well, after Nik's tip about filtering MFA ads which are low-paying, i made it $207 this April.

but it doesnt stop there right? ill just keep adding more content and drive targeted traffic into them. just dont fall for those sites that promises thousands or millions of targeted traffic for just $9.95 coz its not true.

I will agree with that. I have tested those programs in the past and the results were too bad....

i sell a service with a website of mine.

before i use StormPay to accept credit card payments because they accept applicants from my country, but since they will no longer process payments for websites, i transferred to AlertPay. based on my experience with them, they are okay too...

I have been developing sites as a consultant and an employee for many years and I had always wanted to make the time to do my own thing. It was frustrating to be making other rich with my hard work while I scraped by.

I'm by no means making a fortune on AdSense, but I set up my first content site in August of 2005 and made 43 cents the first month. I now earn on average 200 dollars per month across all my content sites (8) and growing rapidly. I expect to  break 500 dollars per month over the next few month.

My service sites is what pays the mortgage, though.

I'm making about $20/month with adsense (this is the combined income of about 7 sites) How many visits or pageviews are you at when making $200 a month with adsense?
My latest site uses clickbank to earn money and has made over $100 in the first month already ;D

That depends on the site's content also. Some sites can have thousands of impressions per day and make hardly $1 while others make $10 with a few hundrends.

In my opinion the best sites to monetize are blogs.

I need arround 50.000 views and 500 clicks a month to get 100 USD from adsense

same here with olaf...

more or less 100,000 impressions and 1000 clicks to make $200.

but its not always the same for me since i have content sites with different topics. sometimes i get clicks from high-paying ads, sometimes from low-paying ones.

One 'optimization' is to have US traffic.

US ads are paying much more, as the demand in USA is much bigger than the rest of the world.
