Recently I discovered a new way to promote my sites, and especially webdigity.
This method is new but yet I see a lot of people using it lately, and I think it have some results.
This advertising way is simple. Just use as an avatar, the logo of your site.
I am not sure if this works in terms of traffic but it is for sure helping with branding.
Any comments?

that should work since people are looking more for the avatar then for the signature

As you probably noticed I added the logo of
php include
as my avatar. I just added it because I think it looks cool and I didn't have an avatar here yet.
But I think you are right, it could add to brand awareness. I think to get the best results for using your avatar as promotion, you should have a name in the avatar and not just a logo graphic.

Well as you can see we use a variant of our logo for avatar images, actually the avatar image used here and elsewhere is the previous version of our logo, the new look has less rings, the image originally designed as a login icon for windows XP has been used across the web at some point we will probably have to go round and put a new image up but for now it stays.
The biggest problem with our image is the lack of text so no word association however I feel it does its job, some forums allow dynamic images which we experimented with to produce a site specific message, but it was a lot of hassle for no real return.

Yeah, it should have text if you want to take advantage of it.
BTW Nico this graphic really looks great :)
