Ok what you have to do is create a circle with 8 segments. The trick is you can only use 3 Straight Lines. Segments can be outside the circle but there has to be 8 in total with only 3 lines.
IF you get the answer scan it in so we can see.

I am not sure your explanation was very clear
but 2 things come to mind:
1)
we have a circlilar shape
and we want with 3 straight lines to "cut" it so that we get 8 "pieces" of ?
(pieces here means pieces of the circle cut by the lines)
this is impossible
or
2)
we want to put a circle and three straight lines ON SOME AREA
and create/split that area into 8 segments ?
for this one: I can create a circle with 3 lines inside and get 7 segments from that (easy)
the 8th part is the one outside of the circle !!!
Is that it ? did you have something else in mind ?

yes all i can get is 7 segments the part outside doesn't count. The segments has to be complete.
