Chitika Fading Ads

Hi all, I have written a script that allows Chitika Ads to be displayed similarly to the Amazon Associates Beta Program (the one with dashed links) but with a fade in effect thrown in.  I have contacted Chitika and have obtained permission to run ads in this format and am now just sharing with everyone that wants to run their ads in a similar vein.

This should increase CTR but there is no guarantee here, so perhaps just try it initially on a few pages and see what happens if it interests you.

The script and a tutorial on how to configure the script is located here

That's a very good implementation.

Thanks for sharing this script, and welcome to our community Eddie :)

Is this format performed better for you?

Hi Nikolas,

Thanks

Yeah the CTR is much better for me thus far, thats really what prompted me to write the script as i found that chitika pays well per click but not many clicks.  Its also early days too and my site is undergoing a major revamp with not everything in place yet.  Basically i want to see how they go over a more prolonged period and when there are more links on my site, but early indications are good.

That's good.

The only problem is that this way the ad is contextual, so you won't be able to use it with adSense ads.

Oh im not so sure about that, you can run amazon ads for example with google adsense and several other affilaite programs run link ads in conjuction with google ads,  for example activewin.com uses link ads with google adsense.  The safe thing to do is to ask google though so its a pertinant point you make.

Yes the best would be to ask Google. And I am sure that they will reply fast.

About the affiliate programs it's ok, because you put them on your pages, and no automated process decides what ads to display.

But in this example this may be different, so you should better talk to Google, as it would be same to lose your publisher account for that.

By the way if you will have news on that please let us know too :)
