Well I am going to try a competition out and see if it works! I am sure that a competition is a sure way to get more traffic and some form of advertising...

Competitions are allways a good way to drive traffic to a web site, especcially a forum.
I think this site is also 'alive' because of its contests.
The only thing that may be bad, is that the most sites these days give ipods as prizes. Maybe something more unique about your site would fit better. Eg. a bottle of a special wine or something like this.

Hi,
When doing a competition i find it helps get more members/visits
Also it gets your site listed in cometitions sites as well:)
