Hey guys
I propose that we start a community project, to make an application in PHP that we can all work on. It would bring the community closer, invite more people to webdigity, and it would give us something to do.
What could we do?
I was thinking about a E-Commerce project, as there are very few good free ones. But we could have a Forum, or even a CMS!
What do you think?

That's a great idea. In fact I want to start a forum software with php OOP and more web 2.0 features. What do you think on that? I hope I will start this project in 1-2 months when my days in army will be very boring :)

That's true, but that's the best way to make it active :)

Hello Friends,
As a newbie, I thought I'd make this my first post!
I'd be willing to help in the project wherever possible. I work full time as an OOP PHP developer (we call it POOP for short ;)) for an insurance company as well as have multiple side projects and a side business.
I look forward to hearing how this comes out. If there is any need for project organization, let me know as well. I'd be willing to help set up a Trac/SVN setup and help us get going.
Thanks all :)

Tisk Tisk - his name was 'jemgames' right? I have jemdiary - (it seemed like a good idea at the time). That would have been confusing.
So basically we're thinking that not alot of people want to get into a community project? aww :( Oh well.
and you've been PMd;)

i suggest a online game. I think we should revive this idea. If the thread starter did not followed it, we should. I can start drawing an app. I'm a designer and a PHP/Perl coder, and i do have my curriculum to show. Also, going freelancer now. I was accpeting designer jobs to builda portfolio but I guess I'm devided between coding and designing.
Anyways, anyone wanna do it?

I would be willing to step in and assist from time to time. I currently work as a lead programmer and analyst - and am mildly ok at actual design. My strengths are in the coding and architecture. What kind of game would you think?

I've been working on a personal project. A online multi-user game somewhat similar to hattrick but regarding futsal. The real appeal within this game is that is encouraged to play dirty. like bribe referees, tell your players to injure specific oponents, gamble, etc etc. You know, real sport :P
And i was thinking more about futsal. It is simpler (only 5 players against 11 in soccer) and the game is not only about the sport. Actually the interesting stuff is around sport. What do you guys think?
