Difference in the countries...

I've noticed a trend with my sites lately and am wondering if anyone else is too.

My sites are on a US host and both are .com's. Yet, most of my google traffic is coming from google.de. (Granted my sampling is fairly small at this point.)

The same search terms in google.com appear significantly lower in the list.

Has anyone else done better for a country other than their own?

It is happening some times.

This can be because the ip of the server you are hosting is registered as German or your content has something that Google associates it to Germany

Michele, do you have some referer information? (the google links incl. query string)

Nothing that would indicate German origin, IP is registered to a company in CA; although I am of German descent  ::) . I suspect this is the only place on the net that connection exists.

I've been keeping track of the search phrases, but not the IPs. Would that be helpful, or should I let you know the next time it happens when I have all the stats?

Yeah, that would be better.

I don't need the IP's I want to check what people are searching at google.de, just referers like:
http://www.google.de/search?q=php+classes&hl=de&lr=&start=10&sa=N
