I just got banned from Digitalpoint today. They wouldn't even tell me the reason. I just think one of their mods didn't like me since I got one infraction point every week even if I didn't go online for weeks and didn't post anything.
It's amazing how easily you can get banned from digitalpoint even if you don't do nothing, but they really like if you are a scammer or something simular.
I just lost couple of hundred bucks in sales becouse of this, lucky me.
How is your experience with Digitalpoint?

davidelvar
Wed 12 March 2008, 11:29 pm GMT +0100
I think I only bumped 2-3 of them by mistake over a long period and I'm not saying that I didn't do a mistake. But that only makes 3 infraction points. So I really don't get it where I got all of those infraction points from.
My username is davidelvar
EDIT: I just tried again going to DP and they finally gave me a reason which doesn't explain anything at all, here it is: Bump deleters automatically nine bumping infractions.
"Nine" infraction points? They must be joking.

I can't pm them since I'm banned from the forum. Can't access anything.
Date the ban will be lifted is: Jun 12th 2008, 9:00 pm
Don't think I'm going to use DP ever again.
Just sent them a e-mail to tell me why I got banned.
It is ironic that people are banned for such minor things while people selling warez and the alike are often left to their own devices.

I have had some infractions myself and it seems that for the same thing you can get 3 different mods penalizing you
So maybe you got more than one mod discovering you bumping the thread !!!
I kind of understand you but I understand the MODS also
because DP its a jungle they have to be strict otherwise that place is going to be a mess so sometimes innocent people might get penalized ...

Personally I find DP one of the most irritating and useless heaps of junk out there. As an SEO nothing infuriates me more then the amount of pure bull that comes from that place. The marketplace is the only resource and again only if you are selling the rest well why post there when you can come to specialised forums and get answers from people who actually know what they are talking about.

Well yeah I understand the mods perspective on this but why don't they first ban all the spammers and scammers before they ban those users out there who just bumpted some threads by mistake.
The mistake that I did to get banned was that I posted a "bump" so they say and deleted it as soon as I relised what I did. My mistake was that I deleted the bump post!

The place that I visited most often was the marketplace. It was the only thing that really interested me, but most of the time I saw crappy products being resold over and over again, same useless junk but some times I discovered great products.

What's the fuzz about anyway?
I don't even think that Google bots spider sites like dp anymore.
There are tons of free advertising forums out there like captain kirk & Co. How stupid must a bot bee to spider those obvious link farms? If anybody here still lives in the fantasy world of the late 90's; weak up - Google bots have learned and the bot army has grown considerably since the foundation in 98.
They have become real smart!
There are a hundred legal and clean ways to advertise a website and to get to the top of the pops of the SERPs, crappy link farm forums though isn't one of them!
If you want to have serious success in Internet Marketing, you'll have to do some serious work first!

Sometimes even when you read through the terms and conditions which are so long and monotonous, you still do not pick up some of the "do nots" of those forums. I guess ignorance is really no exception to the law.

Do not have much eperience with digitalpoint - less than 100 posts, but I have never seen mods to be crazy like on webhostingtalk, where they ban even people with 1000 posts.
However, I suppose big forums should have strict mods, otherwise they will sink in spam.

Everyone is complaining about DP but even than all are DP members. Its true that they are very strict now a days but if you will see how new bie is running this place than you can expect such kind of strictness.
But however they should give some weight to those member who have good iTraders and reputation.

Mate DP alexa ranking fall from 800+ to 3300+ this one is itself revealing that DP is now getting less visitor and this one is decreasing day by day. But however I do feel that no forum have that strong and active marketplace.

Are you sure? I think SP has the best marketplace. DP has too many scammers and too many low quallity stuff for sale.

I do think that Digital Point have wide area where you can sale anything. If you will look at the market place of SP (advertise your service) only 6 pages are there. DP is bigger forum compare to SP but the way moderators are handling DP sooner or later they will loose this place.

You need to use escrow as paypal don't give any security in our days.
Two friends of mine had been scammed, and paypal didn't do anything about it. In fact the one guy lost $1500 from his account (the buyer send him money from a stolen card) and they didn't help him to find the guy behind the transaction and now they call him every day to return the money!
SP at least have some tools that give you a basic security (eg. site owner verification), while escrow can assure you that you are not going to loose money.

Tue 18 November 2008, 12:17 pm GMT +0100
I think the new validation features are very important, but they are mostly buyer protection.
The problem with the stolen credit card is for sure a problem, really strange that it was possible via paypal since they validate the CC card first before you are able to send bigger amounts, maybe this amount was not big enough...
does paypal call him?
Nikolas
Tue 18 November 2008, 12:47 pm GMT +0100
Yeah it looked really strange to me too, actually when he told me I thought "this is impossible" but apparently it is not....
Paypal now calls him to return the money (after the transaction he sent the money to his bank so his account now has -1500$)
It is at least injustice, but I don't know what someone could do in such a case?
olaf
Tue 18 November 2008, 01:47 pm GMT +0100
Paypal is a strange company, you can't call them, they don't respond on your questions and contact you if they want money haha...
I guess that they are wrong (thats the reason why they do so much afford)
Look your friend is the victim here not paypal, they have processed the money. So tell your firiend to keep his money.
He need to send all information about the buyer to paypal and that's all (Paypal has an insurance for this kind of fraud)
Nikolas
Tue 18 November 2008, 03:51 pm GMT +0100
No they don't give insurance any more. They only give some insurance for ebay purchases.
I adviced my friend to stop working with paypal and give them no money, because this is actually their fault. I mean how they can process a stolen card and then get back the money? This should not happen in any way, after all we are using paypal just to be sure that we wont get scammed....

Tue 18 November 2008, 06:30 pm GMT +0100
Paypal is the weirdest processing payment company on the net for sure. They really don't answer any questions and when they do they answer back with another question. One thing I realized is that paypal charges us "fees" but when things go back they aren't really there to help us. They state that their service is free but in reality it isn't, that's why we pay the 5% fees or whatever. I bought a few items over on ebay and I still got scammed, the guy stated that the package was sent and signed up but when I asked him for the UPS Tracking Number he wouldn't hand it over and paypal agreed with him just because he had 3+feedback then I did. I don't know anymore about paypal, they have been a lost cause since day one. I use it still but I have a security lock on both of my debit cards and as well as my bank account that is locked in their as well...I made sure that no Wire Transfers will be accepted from Paypal AT-ALL and if a transaction is larger then $25.00 that I will be notified within 24hours about it, I even bought that extra security key that paypal has...uh its a nag but it's still to protect me...
