What would be the effect if we do too much b;pg commenting? Will that affect our rankings? ???

Well if you do only blog commenting and not use other ways of link building than you are risking that Google will notice your unnatural link profile. The worst could happen is that your will loose ranking for about 3 months or Google will simply stop counting those links wwhen estimating  SERP for your site.
