I use
WinSCP
It is an open source FTP client, with great feautures, but is only for vsftp not simple ftp protocol.

Filezilla is a good one:
free
fast
flexible (copy accounts)
drag & drop
shows hidden files
...

I was using WS_FTP before a lot lot lot of years.
I haven't seen any new version of it.

actually the light version is gone, since there are more commercial users than students (the target group)

of course and there are also download locations. But the download from ipswitch is gone.

i use SmartFTP. its free for private, non-commercial use and it works great!
