Vive la France...
Did anyone notice that Google France doesn't give a dime about social bookmarking, at least not more than a dime?
I'm just about to finish a website in French about - what else - scuba diving on Koh Tao. http://plongeekohtao.com/
I added social bookmarking buttons to all posts and pages and we bookmarked some of them. We also got quite some diggs and bookmarks from visitors.
Now the funny(or rather not so funny) thing is that on all Google search machines but Google.fr the bookmarks are on position 1,2 and 3 for the main key phrase "plongee koh tao" and the 4th position is a website linking to my new site as well, while the actual website is on page 3. (that by itself bothers me a bit)
On Google France there is not A SINGLE bookmark listed and the website is on page 5 or 6!
I than noticed that there are only very few social bookmarks listed at Google France for any search term!
What's up with the French Google? And what's wrong with my WordPress blog??
Ar are we seeing a Google test running life? Sounds more like it.
Social bookmarking lets users and web masters and site owners directly take a huge influence on search results.
Has it become too much influence and Google is trying to find a way out with new algorithms?
But we can't blame all on google and i made a note about those findings for further investigation.
So i ran a second test and entered the search term "Top 3 Free Web Hosting Accounts" at Google.fr and found my digg on Nr.1 like everywhere else.
This fact confused me more than a bit because it brought me back to square 1 and the question:
What's wrong with my blog?? Why does it get stuck on page 5 or 6 on Google France and on all other 'Googles' on page 2 or 3?
Why does a French language site rank higher in Google International than in Google France?
I anybody here can see the obvious and i just can't see the forest because of the many trees, please enlighten me!
