Google has just launched a secured version of Google.com. It is in beta. Google Search uses an encrypted connection to Google' datacenters and servers. It helps the data being searched from your computer to google server will be encrypted. This secured channel helps protect your search terms and your search results pages from being intercepted by a third party. This provides you with a more secure and private search experience.
It will be new move in the search industry that Google started secure search with use of SSL certificate. You can read more about it at googlesystem.blogspot.com/2010/05/google-secure-search.html

Thank for the info thessistor.yes its a secured version to use with google and SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a protocol that helps provide secure Internet communications for services like web browsing, e-mail, instant messaging, and other data transfers. When you search over SSL, your search queries and search traffic are encrypted so they can't be read by any intermediary party such as employers and internet service providers (ISPs).

I would be really pleased to see Google has one or two comparable competitors. Then we can enjoy much more services. I hate monopoly. Small company can hardly make any growth in this field.
