Did I really get a server with 8 CPUs? I didn't order 8 CPUs so that's why I'm a little bit confused. If I got 8 CPUs by mistake I don't want to alert the hosting company as long as they bill me for the number of servers I ordered :D

Is there some way to check for CPUs without asking the hosting company?

I guess the CP is wrong, do you checked that info via the command line?

Some cpus work as dual (eg. dual core)

Maybe that is the case with your server, but again you should have 4 processors :)

8 cores are becoming more common, its 4 (or 2) actual di's but will appears as 8 CPU as each can act independently from each other.
Many hosting companies are using these style systems and large virtualisation to provide VPS and even shared hosting.

No I didn't. I checked it in WebHosting Manager (the admin part of cPanel).

Dell has several quad and 8 core options

What are the specs of the server you ordered? They probably listed something like 4 CPU's (dual core)
