Hi There,

We will discuss about how to change joomla templates?

Steps to change Joomla Template:

1. Browse online for various Joomla templates and decide upon the Joomla template you find most suitable and then download it. This will get downloaded in the form of a zip file. Save it in a folder
2. Go to the administrator panel of your Joomla website by logging in. Once you are there click on the installer?s menu.
3. Then click on the Templates site option. A page will open up. You have to click on the browse button in that page which opens up.
4. Now select the Joomla installation file, which you downloaded (This would be in zip file format). Then click on the upload and install button. Then click on continue. This will take you to templates manager. Once there select the radio button for your downloaded template.
5. The next and last template is clicking on the default button. This will make this downloaded template the default design for your website.

As you can see all these are five simple steps to be followed for changing the Joomla templates.

I hope that the above information useful for all web developers.

Thanks,
Williams

A smart thing to do is to make a copy of the original template. This way you can easily compare your changes with the original template. Here's how you can do this:
   1. Open the zip-file of the original template and open the file templateDetails.xml
   2. In this file you will find something like template_name. Change this name to whatever you want to name your template
   3. Open the file index.php from the zip-file
   4. In this file, scan for the template name and replace it with the name of your template. You will probably find it as part of a path to the css file(s).
   5. make a new zip-file
   6. install this template
