I'm not Michelle but...

I have been asked several times to do Blog guest posts, which I'm still happy to do (and will get through the backlog of about 6 sites in the near future) but recently people have been asking for longer bit's and pieces or more complex posts. Several have even asked how much do I charge for such posts and until now I have simply turned them away however for those who really do want to hire me to write a post or posts I now offer this simple service but it comes with caveats.

Caveat 1 - I am dyslexic, and while I take every effort in keeping spelling and grammar under control I need to get longer posts proof read and this is reflected in the price.

Caveat 2 - This is something I'm offering only for fun because I enjoy writing, when it ceases to be fun I will cease to offer this service.

Caveat 3 - I am not a copywriter, I can only write on subjects I know well and feel comfortable with, I can not for instance write about the mating habits of giant bee's for example with any authority.

What people say about my writing...
Quote
It brought many new readers to my Blog and feed, and beat my all time visitors for a post by not quite double(so far). As a matter of fact it is still, 3 days later, the hottest post on my Blog.

People enjoyed it, it was chucked full of insightful and necessary information, yet was funny and witty...You have got to check out the great custom graphics Tim did. Talk about your all out effort!

The Price

$0.1/word which equates to $50 for 500 words.

For that you get -

A crafted document of your desired length
Suitable graphics and artwork
Proof read
Delivered coded for wordpress or other blogging platform
Delivered as an RDF document or what ever format your heart desires
SEO friendly keyword balanced copy

Now to make things sweeter -
If you allow me to add 2 links of my choice, one within the copy the other in a 1 line bio I will deduct $10 (minimum 500 words)

For orders over a 1000 words the price reduces to $0.08per word.
I do not take bulk orders and completion time is 1-3 days.

Final words
If you want cheap copy I'm not the right person, my writing is not suitable for a MFA site for example, but if you want to attract visitors to a site with a clever article over a long period of time I may have just the thing for you I won't guarantee you the front page on Digg though my work has been there but I think I represent good value for money.

Tim, how does it work? I mention some subject and you will start writing?

Pretty much, obviously it only works if I know the subject you mention ;)
How for example if you have a web development blog, then you can either ask for a specific subject and we can negotiate a title or simply ask for a post and I will look through your site and try to write something that suits the site (I suspect you will get better results from the latter).

Once written I will also help with promotional bits as well.

My areas of expertise is pretty broad based:
AI
SEO
Information architecture
Database and relational architecture
Web Development
Internet promotion and web marketing
Drupal and CMS development

Michelle it was definitely a compliment ;)

By the way for those who are not after written prose I can do video and audio pieces as well (Just PM me and we will work out a rate) just be aware I am a geek and look like one and I sound like one!

However I also work best when talking about my favourite subjects :)

Is that not the face of a geek??

It was taken for some publicity for the Uni I was working for at the time about 3-4 years ago :)

I think your face is ok. I am sure you are a geek (like most of us) but it is not so evident :)

Maybe it's a cultural thing, but I think Tim looks like a geek.  >:D  LOL

You remind me of a fellow student from high school, he had the long hair, leather jacket, motorcycle and was a total computer nerd. I'm not gonna tell when that was, but let's just say Al Gore hadn't invented the Internet yet.  :-X

There was also the mad scientist math professor I had who also had the long hair, leather jacket, motorcycle and was the biggest geek/nerd I've ever met. He was so smart he would sometimes confuse himself.  ;D

Of course, on this side of the pond, your sexy British accent would elevate you to a cool geek.  :-* (Haven't heard you speak, but folks here are crazy for Brit and Aussie accents.)

long hair, leather jacket that's me :) though I never did the motorbike thing, I was more planes and boats sort of person. Also I tend to confuse myself but that's because I'm nuts not because of any genius quality.

Just to let people know that I'm asking for a small deposit upfront from now on. This due to a couple of people not paying :( sucks, the good news is that I rock so its not a problem and you will be overwhelmed by my amazing talent :) or is that ego that you won't mind.

Just to add this small change means that I will invoice people at the start of the work, and will begin work on payment of the retainer the rest of the monies would be due 28 days from that invoice.

Most of my AI is multi agent system design related and sitting gathering dust in a library ;) but I will dig you out a rather dull paper on making an ebay auction bot if you like, it worked out what to bid on based on company share back in its day it was cutting edge web services.

thanks for the offer, tim. really appreciate it. there's no need to dig those papers up. what i meant with robots is real, physical, robot entertainers that interact with people. we will use AI, text to speech and voice recognition so our robots could chit-chat with people.

Sounds like you're getting to work with the really cool stuff in computing and engineering. What we do on the web is computing 101 compared to AI and robotics. I had hoped to work in those fields when I was first starting out. Didn't happen, but then I wouldn't have met all you great folks. ;)

Just to let people know I will no longer be offering writing services as of the end of the week, I ill honour any requests up to that point but then its closing shop.

It has become a hassle to chase people and I'm finding I spend more time writing pieces then is practical while the writing service was never going to be for me cost effective it was also meant to be fun so when it stopped being fun it stops being :) cheers for the support and if you are desperate for an article get in touch.
