Personaly I've started when there was no CPC and CPM was for very big sites :)

I've established my first site back in 96, but this was more like a hobie that made me a few extra money :)

when i started in january 2005, there is ppc, cpm and affiliate programs already. personally, i just use affiliate programs to complement my ppc income.
