I think your site needs a lot of things to be more professional:

1) You need a logo
2) The design is not bad, but it needs some improvements. Maybe a few more graphics or something.
3) The homepage is not a good landing page. The visitor should understand what he/she does in your site very quickly. Maybe you should put there two big boxes, one for people and one for publishers, having a few bullets that explain what someone can do in your site.

Your site's navigation and usability looks ok, so I guess you just have to make it look better.

Were you looking at APopularityContest.com?

The header has the guy on the globe logo. Also, the first heading says "Create a poll on APopularityContest.com". I think that is pretty clear of the purpose of the site. It's also followed up by a brief sentence explaining more. Then it's followed like a list of polls. It's very similar to Digg.com's design, though I won't say it is as nice as digg.

Well what I was trying to say is that the page is not good for a landing page. The site looks a bit old and that's a problem because in a first look you think you are in a MFA or similar site while you are not....

The logo looks old too, that's why I comment it.

Hey Nikolas, just wanted to say thanks for the review. It's now part of Decembers goals to make the site a little more exciting in appearance. Any other comments anyone?

The header logo needs some touch up

the header section would be nice to have a different background color to be distinguished from the rest of the content

the boxes to the left look like advertisements with their bold borders (blue and brown) make them blend a little more with the background color
