That's great! I don't have any ads or revenue generating program, yet. I'd be happy just to cover my hosting cost.

If you don't mind, what kind of volumes do your boards have? Members/unique visitors, whatever. Just so I can get a basic idea of what it takes to earn those checks.

Thanks!

If you plan to make money on forums I will dissapoint you.

People don't really like ads in forums, and the only reasonable ad spend in a forum for an advertiser is buying text links.

But in order to worth the money you must have a descent pr and lots of pages indexed on search engines.

I'll have to get the new SMF board up to the level my Proboard is now before I think it will work for me then.

I'm not looking to make lots, $6.95/mos would do the trick. ;D

That sucks, if forums dont make any money. Then why do so many people want to buy them?

Maybe I haven't write it right. Forums don't make so much money that content sites do. And in order to make a sallary from a forum you must have at least 1 mil pageviews. As for the buy thing, I think that people like buying small (and cheap) forums, just to get rid of the start process.

Anyway forums are not the best way to make money. At least to make money fast.

Think of your self. How many times did you clicked on ads that appear in the forums that you use?

Wholey crap 1 mil pageviews per month? Thats allot of vistors! Your right about the add thing I never click adds unless I want to help the website out.

If forums are not the best way to make money. Then what is? I want to run the forum as a hobby, but I am willing to do anything to make money. If I could just cover the costs of colocating the server I would be happy.

If you want to make money then what you really need is a search engine optimized content site with lots of fresh and unique content

You mean similar payout as G? No the money is less than adsense, but searchfeed is allways welcome as it is not taking much space to a page. I mean that you don't have to put a banner, a link is fine.

It is againg google's TOS to show any statistics of your ads.

So I would suggest you to edit your post....

The only thing I can tell you is that the number you posted is a bit low. You can convert better, try to do this by alternating the code, colors, placements.

Good luck with your new site :)

I didn't discuss any click-through rates and the numbers I posted where not 'Site performance' but the combined number of several sites. I guess this would be 'creative interpretation'  ;D

I'll  remove the numbers...

Hey vbignacio,

I saw that you are also promoting clicksor in your site. Have you ever got a check from them?

I ask because for me, clicksor is the biggest scam I ever found.

vbignacio
Fri 14 April 2006, 01:25 pm GMT +0300
yeah, i did once. they have the same owner as paypopup.

im just promoting their referral links since Adsense is more profitable with a huge ad inventory for my sites with different topics.

i still get some signups thru my links once in a while, maybe from people turned down or banned by Google.

Yes, most of it is. The myramid site is also doing exceptionally well with AdSense, only about $1 a day, but considering that this site is not yet finished and has not been promoted at all I think it shows the potential of the site.
