Started doing research today on press release distribution websites. Would prefer free ones that allow links. Was able to do this at Press Release Point. The others I submitted to today either charge, or don't provide links for the free distribution. Any suggestions?

In my experience the best is PRweb. Their paid option gives you serious chances to get buzzed.

We use them and get good backlinks from them. They're not cheap :) Right now with our budget, I need cheap!

Have posted to a couple dozen press release websites this last week. Using the free ones. Many allow links. Will be interesting to see which ones actually show up in our backlinks.
Noticed this morning when I searched for "promotional products", a term we want to improve on in the SERPs, that the press release we submitted to pr.com was listed under "New Results" on the first page of Google. No backlinks from this one. But hopefully we'll get some actual PR (press release) value out of this :) And it was free. I like them already.

i learned that in press release URL wire site announcements are indexed by every major search engine in a day or so, and are also syndicated via moreover cool sites feed to 10,000+ other sites. Other wire services can't get in that feed because they publish too many releases each day. Can't put 150 announcements into a feed if that feed only publishes a few each day, right? That's why when you are announcing a web site; URL wire will always be one of the two or three services you should use.

I had once used PRLog.com and Free-Press-Release.com.
In addition to this, you can also go for PR.com, OpenPR, and NewsWireTiday
