Hands On Network leads a national civic movement bringing people together to
tackle tough community problems through service. We are a growing network of
local nonprofit organizations that act as civic action centers?helping people
?be the change? in their communities through effective volunteer action. The

Summary of Duties:
The Senior Web Architect will assist in the overall development of a
web-based CRM system that is used by our 40+ regional affiliates. You will join
an energetic 3-person team with a goal of using technology to create social
change.
Primary Responsibilities:
Successful candidates will have a bachelor?s degree in a related field, five
years of industry experience, and the following experience:
have exposure working within the non-profit sector. Occasional travel is
required. Background and understanding of the national service movement is also
very helpful.

The Senior Web Architect will assist in the overall development of a
web-based CRM system that is used by our 40+ regional affiliates. You will join
an energetic 3-person team with a goal of using technology to create social

Primary Responsibilities:
- Development and maintenance of CRM application, including software
development in PHP, JavaScript, CSS and HTML, as well as database
administration in PostgreSQL (40%) - Writing detailed software functional specifications and release notes
(20%) - Acting as a ?level 2? technical support representative (10%)
- Testing and troubleshooting of existing software (10%)
- Managing deployments of our application to new customers, including data
imports, DNS transfers, and e-commerce configuration (10%) - Development and maintenance of our national web site (using the Mambo
CMS) - Designing new features based on customer business requirements
- Researching, selecting and integrating other software components to be
used within existing applications - Designing SQL queries on demand to support various data reporting needs
- Other duties as assigned
Successful candidates will have a bachelor?s degree in a related field, five
years of industry experience, and the following experience:
- 3+ years and expert-level knowledge of object-oriented PHP
- 3+ years of administration of SQL-based relational databases (ideally
PostgreSQL) - 3+ years (strong working knowledge) with JavaScript and CSS
- Fundamental knowledge of Linux and Apache server administration
- Familiarity with the operation of content management systems (ideally
Mambo) - General knowledge of web security issues
- Experience with source code control systems, defect tracking,
configuration management, and large system deployment procedures - Experience in the maintenance of large (100,000+ lines of code) web
applications. - Prior hardware/software/and MIS support preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

required. Background and understanding of the national service movement is also
very helpful.
