Sorry, but i can't see the difference betweem getting your site listed in the social sites  and  get you listed better on the search engines in your post.

Yes, by bookmarking your articles and pages in those large social sites you can create quality back links to your site and you can also receive traffic to your site. 

The major of the rule is to avoid self promotion. Otherwise, you might hurt your site.
