Submiting your sites to cool site of the month sites

Has anyone tried this before?

If you don't know what I am talking about, there are sites that award other sites. The site can be awarded because it is 'cool' or it has very good design, etc.

Most of these sites give those awards on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

I plan to submit some of my sites to sites like this, and I think that they can bring lots of traffic.

I tried an award site a few years ago, but I didn't get that much traffic from it. I think you can get more traffic yourself if you start your own award and have all winners link to you.

Hmm, maybe an award site will be my next project.... :D

I did the same got some books from my affiliate partner and started some quiz. Next I tried to pormote this quiz on other related sites, no chance all these people was pissed off :-(

Then I posted the link to contest related sites with result of a lot of visits from people comming only to get a chance on the price. lol

A contest is good to manifest a coomunity but not relly for new members or business.

has anyone submitted to these "cool sites" sites? if so, any good results?

I haven't, but I guess the results are not so good, as this traffic is very untargeted.

So a site like coolsiteoftheday can give you a traffic boost, but with much lower conversions than your usual traffic.
