Good luck, God Bless and Stay Safe!

A word of advice for you Nikolas ::) -

Soldier stands guard
A new soldier was on sentry duty at the main gate. His orders were clear. No car was to enter unless it had a special sticker on the windshield. A big Army car came up with a general seated in the back. The sentry said, "Halt, who goes there?"

The chauffeur, a corporal, says, "General Wheeler."

"I'm sorry, I can't let you through. You've got to have a sticker on the windshield."

The general said, "Drive on!"

The sentry said, "Hold it! You really can't come through. I have orders to shoot if you try driving in without a sticker."

The general repeated, "I'm telling you, son, drive on!"

The sentry walked up to the rear window and said, "General, I'm new at this. Do I shoot you or the the driver?"

My secret mission is just over :)

I just got back from the army center, and I have to say it was really fun :)

Ok, maybe it was bad for some people who came there straight from school, but for me and the rest of my age is just fun.

BTW if you have sent me an email these days please hold on, as I have a few hundreds of emails that I have to reply....

The greek air force is very easy, but not in the center (the first 25 days)

Kids (or fishes...) can't stand the screams all day and many people decide to go to a shrink during that time. I know it sounds very funny but many people take this thing seriously :)

olaf
Fri 7 December 2007, 10:04 am GMT +0100
hehe that screaming was the best.

most of all into the phone

what kind of army is that? I germany people would run away after a month of duty if they get 1 week vacation :D

ventureskills
Fri 7 December 2007, 05:18 pm GMT +0100
Here (well not here that's the problem) there are many soldiers who would kill for a week off (sorry bad pun)

But with the armed forces stretched most soldiers have a very busy life :(

Nikolas
Fri 7 December 2007, 05:19 pm GMT +0100
The greek air force is the best regarding free time. This is mostly because people like me can't really offer something to the force as all of the activities require special education. We are just doing stuff like cleaning, cooking, etc. :)

maybe if they found out youre a web developer, you will be reassigned to maintaining your armed forces website huh?

Nikolas
Fri 7 December 2007, 05:40 pm GMT +0100
Not really. In the army you know something only if you have a master degree on that.

In other words I don't even know how to open a pc :)

vbignacio
Fri 7 December 2007, 05:47 pm GMT +0100
so they think you have a masters in cleaning and cooking then? LOL

When the PC is attached to a jet that has a missile strapped to it you would be keen not to open it lol
so they think you have a masters in cleaning and cooking then? LOL
well they only give them blunt knifes so they don't hurt themselves

Welcome back Nikolas!

I find all this conversation about your military interesting. It sounds nothing like ours - even before 2001.

Perhaps the main difference is that Greece has mandatory service where ours is voluntary?

Nikolas
Sun 9 December 2007, 08:41 pm GMT +0100
Olaf, that's a great idea. I will add those later :)

That's right. The real army is for those who are full time soldiers. We are just going to army for 12 months, and besides some basic training we just clean stuff and drink coffee....

Clean stuff - It's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it. lol

Where did you see that Michelle? I thought I had fixed most of the spelling issues in the main template, and I;m certainly seeing know that they pay, maybe you havea very old cached version?

seriously I went through and spell checked all of the template a couple of months ago, we had a small blip when I used some back up code but it was quickly fixed, I suspect you had an old version cached in your browser if its any help Google is still seeing the old spelling version to :) so you are not alone

Nikolas
Wed 12 December 2007, 11:21 am GMT +0100
That's a strange problem. Maybe some problem with WP that we are not aware of.....

In general google is not indexing our site frequently (last homepage visit was at Dec 8, 2007) so I guess we just need some trust from google.

BTW tomorrow I am leaving again for the army, hope I will come back soon this time :)

I can tell you that you will not find anything useful and cognitive in the army. It is better to go for studying at the university.

I will agree with X-man. Army sucks but still in many countries you have to go for some time....
