How many of you guys actually have your sites validated, and by whom? Mine's XHTML valideated by W3 for XHTML 1.0. I find it pretty useless, really (XHTML), but I can understand the upside of getting validated.

Really? With a site as big as the topsites you should definitely make sure it's validated. I found out with my old site layout that FireFox views code VERY differently than IE or Opera (Opera is just another story altogether). You could run into problems later on if your code doesn't match the standards laid out by W3 and the like... Browsers are becoming more and more strict.

I check my sites with all the browsers, so there is no problem.

But they do not validate. When I have some free time I check the html, but this is not my expertise. Maybe I should buy some book some day to learn this field better.

In fact the only time I read  books about html was back in 96 when xhtml, xml and css didn't existed yet....
