Propably NumBa1Stunna516 mentioned that with the less appropriate way, but if you want to say that you are a designer - developer or whatever, you must test your creations in any way that the users will do. And actually it is not so difficult.
A bit of experience will learn you how to design your sites in order to show fine in any browser.
About Firefox I forgot to mention that it has a great developer plugin (I think it is embedded) which allows you to check a lot of stuff about your html coding (css, validate, etc)

I use mainly Firefox and Opera, but I also use IE to check the "look" of my websites, since around 90% of regular surfers use IE. It's rare that my websites look 100% exactly identical in all browsers. I guess it's true for most websites.

Firefox offers an extension called 'View in IE' that allows you to set certain pages to open in IE if the page isn't designed to work properly in FF. I have it and it is a handy tool. I'll have to find the link for anyone who is interested.
My opinion, anyone who does not make a site work in IE and FF (at least) should not call themselves a webmaster, web designer, web developer, or anything of the sort.
Nikolas
Mon 5 December 2005, 08:36 pm GMT +0100
Rooted that's very good as you can actually test your sites without having open all the broswer programs.
Can you provide a link to this extension?

Mon 5 December 2005, 11:24 pm GMT +0100
Well, this extension might not work real well for what you are talking about. With this, if you are on a page that doesn't view properly in FF you can set FF to always switch you over to the actual IE browser anytime you return to that particular page. What you are talking about doing might work better with the extension found here...
https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=1419&application=firefox (I haven't tried this one, just found out about it as I was looking for the other link to post here)
The extension that I was originally talking about (View in IE) can be found here...
https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=35&application=firefoxI may have to give the 'IE tab' one a try and see if it doesn't serve my purposes even better.

Thats not entirely true, sites that are perfectly programmed according to the standarts can cause problems displaying in IE and apart from that IE lets in a lot of spyware/adware I get none of that crap in FireFox.
p.s. I can do without the IE crap that doesn't work in FireFox (like that amazing text effect in Nikolas' signature ;D )

Fri 21 April 2006, 06:35 pm GMT +0200
I use Firefox for 99% of my surfing. I love the tabs and the fact pop-up blocking is on by default. (IE does this too with XP SP2 but I am still on Windows 2000).
For sites that appear to be written specifically for IE, I use Maxthon. It uses the IE engine, so you still have to run the Windows updates regularly, but it has provided tabbed browsing and pop-up blocking for years, without having to wait for IE7. Plus it has way more options than I know what to do with.
For testing websites, I also keep Opera up to date, but rarely use it. The last time I used it regularly, it crashed too much.

I definitely do,
Ill solve one of your problems, namely the row thumbnails spacing to be equal in IE and FF, you can do the rest with this tip... Its a box model problem within IE...
Also notice you border for your footer floating on top, producing double lines in FF in the area just above "Meer informatie"
Lets solve that first...
On your CSS add the bold one
===========================================================
.footnote {
clear:both; margin:5px 0 0;
border-top:1px solid #DDDDDD;
font-size:11px;
line-height:20px;
padding:10px 0 0;
text-align:left;
}
===========================================================
While on the problem on the row of images spacings, add this to your html just above your <body> tag:
===========================================================
<!--[if IE 6]>
<style type="text/css">
#thumbrows img {
border:1px solid #DDDDDD;
margin-bottom:20px;
margin-top:0px;
float:left;
padding:5px;
}
</style>
<![endif]-->
===========================================================
basically you can include all properties of css that is having problems in IE inside it... then everything will look the same...
olaf
Mon 26 June 2006, 08:27 am GMT +0200
Thank you designer, for your help...
I the meantime I solved the problem a little bit different by using another box arround the thumbs to use margins in place of padding. And the footer was only about the background image direction (switch bottom to top)
