Hello,

I think this question is interesting for a lot of us:
What kind of ads do you click as a webmaster, web developer (etc.) ?

Normally we add webmaster related ads on our webmaster related website and this will work for a new service or product but what if this kind of banners are not clicked anymore?

so the question is what's next, mobile phones?, music DVD's? ...

According my personal interests it could also about wine (chris, do you have an affiliate program?) or I like to cook...

You see thats difficult because we didn't know our visitors....

I believe relevant ads are still the best. In the sense that if I am at a mobile phone site, I would be more given to click on a mobile phone ad or a related accessory ad. Same thing with webmaster sites. The only thing we know about our visitors(to our webmaster related website) is they are either webmasters or are looking to be one. So it is safest to cater to that market only.

nramkr,
you're right, while both sites are different:
on the mobile phone site visitors will be interested in related stuff (the same for other type products)

but the webmaster site is different, what are the ads about hosting, domain names, tools, software etc. everywhere the same (actually I can't remember that I saw somthing interesting ad on this sites)

I give you another case, finalwebsites.com:
mostly the visitor comes from other sites or google to get one of my scripts, this people are looking only for one thing, that what they come for ...

Because there are so much webmaster sites the people saw enough ads about al the webmaster related stuff...

I started this thread because I want to start some not webmaster related banner campaigns, about items that are interesting for all of us (webmasters)...

This issue has to do mostly with demographics.

While every single visitor of this web site is a webmaster means that the visitor can also be other things like :

1) Geek
2) Computer fun
3) graphic designer
4) TV junkie(??)

Those are just examples, but I have this opinion from my results. For example using CPAs from "make money fast" programs never helped me, while hosting was a good market (and that is reasonable), but what about a campaign of "watch tv in your pc"?

I guess if you find out simmilar interests of your audience can help you more with the monetization, but this is something that can be done only with surveys.

my ad interests are:

1. webmaster related (tools, seo, scripts, etc.)
2. earning money online related (mfa sites, keyword tools, etc.)
3. other interesting freebie downloads

I think that kind of ads have high CTRs in general, but it is not a good idea to use ads like this with a site that you sell something :)

Ok free "useful" memberships sound interesting...I think free software is not a good ad or you have something totally new...
