Hi guys,

I would like to know, what was your best forum topic?  :)

It's really to give ideas on other forum admin's to give good topics to encourage new/old members to post.

I think that this is a very tough question to answer....

I say that because to answer this you must first answer the question "What is a good forum topic?"....

I will think about it, and maybe come back later to post my opinion :)

There's no rush, but maybe look back at the beginning when your forum first started.

Well I don't think the topic is what makes the forum good, but the feeling of the whole forum.

For instance here at webdigity we are more like a familly :) (or at least I think so....) The loyal members of this community care for each other, and really like to help each other.

I believe that feeling is making people stay attached to this community, not the topics or the graphics or anything else....

I think the better ones are the ones that start by asking a question/opinion and turn into a water-cooler type conversation with opinions and ideas being exchanged along with a few private jokes between members.

Not sure there is any sort of recipe to use to purposefully create these thread - I tend to think they just happen.

I had a topic called 'What are you listening to right now?" and that went on for about a year!
Another one i saw on a rival forum was count to 1000, that went on for a while but i dont know if it was finished
If you get something rolling you could split the posts into different topics when the conversation get going.

I think it depends on your website and if there are several types of categories or just one to focus on.  For my website, I only focus on baseball (sports) cards so it makes no sense to bring up other topics, at least until more members are there and maybe general sports talk seems fit as well.

Hello! Nice to see you! What is your first opinion about this forum?

The problem with those topics that go on forever is that you can't read them all. Then people just read the first page or two and post. I'm not sure that's very engaging or providing much use. My first question back is "What's the purpose of your forum?" Topics that spur on intelligent discussion in the spirit of the purpose of the forum are your best topics.

I didn't have any forum but i am the member of a couple of forums.
I think the point of forums are to put people who share the same interest together, and talk and learn!

For me best topic is SEO, and chat section, for me it is not important , what matters is I feel proud to become a member of this large family and when i see people have achieved so many posts and are connected for such a long time. Hope to be like one of those. And we get to learn so many new things from this site

Sometimes the best forum topic is "Let's count from 1 to 1 million", depending on what audience you have there. On the other had, contests are very nice!

Haven't successfully done a forum topic. But I guess I post more on the web design and review sites area. It's a challenge for me now to build a good forum topic. I still have to learn a lot.
