I prefer living in a city and was in Detroit for 9 Years.  I was born and raised not too far from here and I never intended to come back.  It is a miserable place for me and I can't wait to leave again, I just can't afford to at the moment.

I'm surprised at how many from here in the States seem to believe that.  Canada is awesome, I love to go there every chance I get... well, at least Ontario.  I haven't been to any other Province.

And that's not all the places i have been. My father is a military officer and we used to move from place to place every 1-2 years.
(it's off topic but i wanted to confirm what you said.)
Now i am thinking how often we used to move...quite funny...many places...:)

Nikolas
Fri 5 May 2006, 05:38 pm GMT +0200
Interesting. At least you can say that you know Greece(plus that the army time will be fun for you....).lol :)

Fri 5 May 2006, 06:12 pm GMT +0200
That is true.I know many places.
About the army i can't say that. The fact that we were moving every year made me hate army. When i was young, i wanted to be a military officer. Now i don't even want to hear about it.
You said that you are from Thessaloniki. You were born there and you grown up there?

Yeah it is a nice city. It is big enough to find anything you want, but people are not so crazy like in Athens, and we are not far from the sea 8)

People in Athens are more crazy (due to pollution >:(), that is true.
But Athens is not far from the sea either. I think that people from Thessaloniki doesn't like people from Athens, is that true?
(I want to remind you that I only live here and I am not from here :) )

Nikolas
Sat 6 May 2006, 02:58 pm GMT +0200
The only thing that makes me crazy about Athens (and I guess most people have the same problem there) is the time thing. For example to go to your job you may need up to 4 hours!

Quote

No that's not true. I have many good friends in Athens. This is something that is true only for the people that are football "fans" - hooligans but those kids just need a reason to hate anyone. And if you want my opinion I think that it is totally wrong to hate someone because he/she is from another city. It is the most idiotic type of racism.....

I agree with you, but maybe you didn't understand me.
When I said you don't like people from Athens, I didn't mean in a serious way. Just for fun. Of course football fans is something else.

Where do you want to go Duncan?

Some place where there is more potential; I am really getting down at the lack of opportunities here in Vancouver. There is simply very little industry.

Previously, I had wanted to go to the USA, where there is much more industry; however, since all these "Homeland Security" changes, I don't think so anymore. So that leaves somewhere else in Canada. At the moment, I am considering Alberta, whose low taxes are a real attraction, or Ontario, where all the industry is.

I definitely want to get out of Vancouver before the 2010 Winter Olympics comes here. The way it is being mismanaged, I don't want to be taxed to death to pay the bills afterwards. We are already being taxed up to our eyeballs; I expect an over-budget Olympics is going to make things ten times worse.

Tue 9 May 2006, 12:17 am GMT +0200
I see. My best wishes for your goals :)

I would tell you to come here in Greece, but if the industry is small there, here does not exists at all :P

I would tell you to come here in Greece, . . .

I'd like to visit Greece one day, as a tourist; it has so much history.

However, I don't think I'd even have the option of living there (even if I became a millionaire webmaster, living off income generated by my website). It seems like every country has become more restrictive in terms of letting people move around. I might have to lie somewhat before they let me into Greece as a permanent resident: richer than Aristotle Onassis, smarter than Albert Einstein, better looking than Brad Pitt, a better lover than Valentino, more athletic than . . . whew! building up my qualifications might take a while. (Incidentally, how hard is it to immigrate to Greece?

Yeah Greece is a great place to visit as a tourist. History is a big part of our nation, but believe me none here cares about it. I've learned about our history after school ended.....

I don't think that it is so difficult to immigrate in Greece. As we are member of EU I guess it can be done easilly. Of course money can make it easier, but that's a rule for everything, right? :)
