hi guys i just want to know that directory submission is still effective???

I am not the best advisor on that as I've stopped submitting my sites to directories years ago, but I think it still has some impact.

I would say directory submission is effective but in some directories only, try to submit to well known directory such as demoz,yahoo and of course  google..Other wise it's just a waste of time.

Well it is but not to great extent.. Do directory submission but do not spend a lot of time on it.. Make it your extra activity which you will perform if you have spare time!

In my opinion , yes submitting your blog or website to directory sites is still beneficial to you, it still helps you get backlinks and does help in increasing your page rank in search engines, directory submissions with social bookmarking and few other services would help you a lot .

I have seen no effect with directory submissions to enhance serps to any site that we have worked on.  In fact, some are so disappointed now with directory submission, than if you mention it, they run away.
