how to make such logos?

Hi all,

I was wondering if you can achieve such bevels and gradients in Illustrator, or I shall start learning 3D in order to design logos of this kind of flavour..
I am especially interested in how to do bevels and emboss in vector images.

you can use Illustrator's 3D effect to Extrude and Bevel. (Effects --> 3D --> bevel)

Illustrator has a lot of built-in 3D effects like these to help you create this sort of look, but I have often found it easier to create graphics like this in Photoshop, particularly CS2.  If you are concerned about your vector graphics you can import them as vector shapes once you are finished with your edits and layout.  The chrome effect on the lettering would definitely be much more easily achieved in Photoshop as well, you can do a basic google search and find plenty of "chroming" Photoshop tutorials but not so many for Illustrator unfortunately.  Good luck!
