mailto: link on a secure webpage

I have noticed that when I open an email from a mailto: link on a secure (https://) page that it affects the email client (Outlook and Outlook Express in this case). I will explain what happens...

Outlook Express: click the link, email opens, but cannot send!? It says that the SMTP server is not responding. Now this is only happening in some locations in South Australia with the same ISP; very weird!

Outlook: the email opens with double spacing in my signature. I will test sending it and see if it works and also if this email is different in anyway to a fresh email sent without this link.

Any ideas anyone? The SSL cert can't be affecting the email client in any way could it??? Or is it just M$'s lovely email clients?!

Hehe this is a class A m$ bug :)

What about Thunderbird?

Did you tried to trick the browser with some javascript? I know it sounds silly, but bugs of this kind needs stupid creativity to solved :)
