Hello,
I surfed the last days for a while via the stumbleupon toolbar.
now I noticed that I got much more visitors via stumbleupon then normal:
f.e. yesterday 177 that's 19% from all visits the same day.
Is there a relation because I used the toolbar and I have visited some sites? (like a traffic exchange?)

No this is because they use a fake referer header every time they crawl(?) your site.
This is not real visitors.

By the way its not wrong to have these kind of buttons on a site:

its not so fast but your site is added to the communities more and more

Yeah, I have added some of those in the home page of the forum, but only for the RSS.
Maybe I should add some for social networking sites. Thanks for the tip :)

yes, the rss version of a site is important but be carefull with the submission to directories and of course with google desktop. they generate a lot of traffic...

it looks like not everyone is voting while surfing the websites via the stumbleupon toolbar (like me). This will say the promote you site only if they like it otherwise they do nothing. The same way you create a kind of fav list. (that's my idea)

After using more features of the community site stumbleupon I'm out what is the reason for these extra visits. The page about my upload script is in the featured website list of the php tag. By the way there is a lot of traffic on lots of stumbleupon pages.

Maybe this site is working fine as a promotion method then :)
(Should we move this thread to the promotion area?)

I think the "first" bigger number of visitors send by stumbleupon are from reviewers checking a new link suggestion:

Yes me too, and you can advertise for only 5 cent/click
The only bad thing is that you need their toolbar, but with this toolbar you are very quick, at the end this site is more usefull then all the other communities, I will send you an email at gmail (a kind of invite)

Hello,
After some weeks at stumbleupon.com I learned that this community can server you lots of visitors if you website is featured inside a more populair tag. People have to promote you site to get inside the list of featured websites. To speed up this process you can advertise at stumbleupon. but these ads have price for every impression of your site you pay 0.05 USD.
Is this to expensive? the visitors are mostly from the good target groep but 1000 impressions for 50 USD looks to me very expansive what do you think?
Nikolas
Mon 19 June 2006, 04:51 pm GMT +0200
Yeah it is very expensive.
You could get cpc visitors for 0.05
It should have a price like 1 cent for 5-10 visitors.

I got behind the reason why new "stumbled" websites are visited so often:
this link is a list with the most recent "stumbles":
http://buzz.stumbleupon.com/Each user has a direct link to this page at his personal page, I think many people are using this site to find new websites...
