open source templates and licenses

Hi,

I'm gonna create some phproxy templates from some selected CSS templates I found at oswd.org.

I like to know what I need to do with the link in the footer:

all of them have "design by xxx" (don't have a question about this link since this need to be stay there)

some of them have a sponsor link like: "Sponsored by xxx", what is with this link? In my opinion there is nothing about sponsors in most of the OS licenses.

Next I need to know, I offer these modified templates on of my websites for free and ask the user to keep a link of mine in the footer. Do I need to informa the designer about this?

I think you need to ask the designer before proceeding to this.

Then if they allow you to modify it you should put something like :

"Designed by Olaf, based on XXX template"

Nick, I don't change the design, I use two open source products (phproxy and the template) to create one other OS product:

a phproxy template

I don't have problems to send a mail to the designer, it's just to understand how it has to work. My own scripts are a BSD type license, this license is much more flexible than GNU / GPL and still people have asked me to use a script in a commercial product
