Hi,

If someone will pay me (for some websites) via Western Union, is this payment safe?

what if the money is in my account, is it possible that the buyer can cancel the payment?

Wester Union is used a lot to scam people at ebay. All these scams, however, require you to send money through western union. If you are receiving the money I guess you are safe. The problem with the service seems to be that you can quite easily use a fake name to receive the money and once you went to a western union office to pick up the cash, there is no way for the paying party to get a refund.

yes, you can pick the money up at one of their offices. I don't know if they also do wire transfers to your bank account, but you should be able to find that information at their website (as well as any offices near you)

back here in the Phils, Western Union requires two government issued IDs if it is your first time to withdraw money so it is not easy to fake an identity.

olaf, i suggest you claim your money out of western union first before doing any work. once youve done that, the sender will have no way of getting his money back.

I have never used the service myself, just letting you know what I have heard. Seems like those ebay scammers are mostly Mexican, you can probably withdraw without an ID there if you pay the guy at the office $10.

here, its the gov't employees who are always accepting bribes. locals call them gators and crocs.

its a different thing with private companies thou, where employees have more respect for themselves.
