start winXP without login?

Hi,

currently I use winxp with a user account and I need to login after (re)start.

I want to switch my configuration afterwards that the login is not needed anymore, where I have to look?
(there is nothing via the icon user accounts)

Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Select logon and logoff options -> Use the welcome screen :)

If you deactivate that, and set the password to nothing, I think it will work.

right you're not a windows guru because teh welcome screen setting have to be activated :)
(now I have the problem that a service start by the (not system) need a password)

yep need to use a password otherwise I cant run apache as a user,

is there another way to start XP without the need of an password?

I guess not, but propably you can run Apache as guest (or run it at non-service mode) ;)

Yeah, just run the executable from the command line.

It also have a directive so it wont display this ms-dos window

You can configure Windows XP to automate the logon process if your computer is not part of a domain.

Click Start, click Run, and type control userpasswords2.

Clear the Users must enter a username and password to use this computer check box.

Click Apply.

Enter the user name and password you wish to automatically log on with, and then click OK.

Click OK again and you're all done.

This feature allows other users to start your computer and use the account that you establish to automatically log on. Enabling auto logon makes your computer more convenient to use, but can pose a security risk.
