Considering your site is a forum, 100-200 a day isnt rare. Google checks often on sites that are updated frequently.
My best forum has this so far for december Googlebot 7038+84 173.65 MB 17 Dec 2005 - 04:36 with little activity. If you can get google to spider static pages 200 times a day I think youre going to PR5+

I think that you have misunderstood some things here.
PR is a whole different thing than indexed pages. Pagerank is about incoming links, and there is no relation on this and the indexed pages that your site has.
You can check this thread for some explanations on how pr works.

i was using the frequency of google coming to my site as an indicator of how my PR is coming along.
How frequently googlebot visits isn't very important for the PR, it's important for your position in the search results (which is more important than PR - I've seen PR6 sites with barely any visitors). Anyway, my priorities for my site are as follows: 1, fresh content as often as possible 2, high rankings in search results 3, PR.
Again, high PR doesn't mean high visitor count (unfortunately )
