Free backlink checking tools are worthless. ? You have to have paid for software to make sure the links are present.

Use Google webmasters tool. Else check manually by entering following code on Google search box. links:your domain

In case if these toolls dont show result, than you can search manually also see the the view source of website had your link and there find nofollow or dofollow tag linked with your hypertext.
your will get either your link is no follow or do follow.

i don't about  any sofrware to check dofollow links but i check my websites links in this site it is very good site it shows abut nofollow and dofollow all in detail       backlinkwatch dot com

I personally use backlinkswatch because it is very easy and effective tool to check backlinks of your competitor of any website, it also show you both do-follow and no-follow links.

the best would be SeQuake plugin for mozzila plus no follow addon to it. it is going to hilight in ping all no follow links wherever you go.
