A while ago I registered to an automated link exchange service, to check if this is a good way to promote my sites.

So I registered through link vault which seems to be the best of those services.

Unfortunatelly, when I check the pages that are supposed to have links back to my site, I see nothing!

So they are not checking for cheating, because if they do there would not be so many cheaters in their network.

Assuming to all of these, I will not signup again to such a service.

Do you have any experiences with programs like that? What is your opinion?

I agree that automated link exchanges don't really work as there is always someone that cheating the system.

I would prefer a manual three way link exchange with a few good sites instead of that.

Do you really need that?

I would rather ask, is it worth to have something like that?

No, it's not worth it. I once got stuck and put some links on my webpages, hoping I will get a link back but it was all in vain. Don't use this method! You can just contact the owner by whoising the domain!

Those are a little dangerous... you may end up with links at sites you would not want to be associated with.

So does this mean that having an automated link exchange is not highly recommended?

Going for automatic link exchanges is a waste of time.

Rather, spend time on writing original and useful content (its a long term solution for more and better backlinks)
