when trying to submit my site to googles sitemap service, it reports that my sites 404 error page returns a status of 200 (OK) in the header. is there anyway to modify my custom error page to display 404 in the header like an original error page would? i deleted the custom page, then submitted, and it worked, so i added the custom page again. this simply bypasses the problem, and does not provide a permanent solution for it incase they run another check which im sure they will.

In the first line of your script write this :

Code:
<?php
header
("HTTP/1.0 404 Not Found");
?>

Headers must be sent at the start of the script, before anything else.

It will show the page, unless the user has some kind of plugin in the browser, that will redirect to another page.

hmm well i have seemed to avoid the problem for now, if it happens to arise again i am not sure how this will work, as i use php fusion on my main website (easy for me to make changes as I Am always at a different PC).. and the viewpage.php sends out its own headers, also I have pages that are not error pages which are used by viewpage.php so i dont want them to have the error 404 header..
