One of the most common mistakes a newbie webmaster makes is the constant tracking of the SERPs. Yeah, I agree there is something magical, something hypnotic in it - seeing as your site slowly climbs up (oh, yeah!) the SERPs or suddenly falls down (oh, no!) and then raises again. It is a very captivating for sure, but absolutely useless process. Believe me, you don't need to check how well your site is doing every 10 minutes. Moreover, you should not do that even once a day.

you have to check your progress at least once a week and again i use for that SeCocpit and its build in rank tracker. I used to check my positions every hour lol

There should be constant monitoring of SERP,s , its essential because it tell you the reason of dropping and raising of keywords position. You are in better position to make the decision further.
