Have you ever had your email hacked and what do you do about it? I have had it happen twice now and am not really sure what is going on. I let yahoo know about it the first time and they told me what to do which I also did the second time.

I got it working good and then had it hacked so I followed all the steps that they told me to do. My contacts were all getting emails that were not from me and they really were not happy about it at all.

I got my mail hacked but it was through gmail... not yahoo.. There are certain sites, which are fake ,, they ask you for your email.. and sometimes they create such an interface and pages.. of reputed sites.. that you feel secure to submit your passwords too.. I guess it usually happens when you don't clear your cache.. and save your passwords on your browsers...

To stop your email from getting hack, the major problem I see with passwords is people are you just letters or something easy, so take your current password and everywhere there is a vowel change it to a number or a character like this $. and that should be hard to break, and make it 11 characters long at least.

Create a super strong password.
Do not use the same password twice on different websites. Some database admins do not use md5 encryption and can see you password clearly from their database viewer.
Use a password like this: ^oL$d.16Gf%
Memorise it in small chunks.

A compromised Yahoo! account can be used to send scam emails to your friends. A typical scam email claims that you are stranded somewhere and need money. If your friends send money it will be kept by the scammer. If you used your Yahoo! account to register other accounts, you may lose access to those as well; the unauthorized user can use your Yahoo! account to reset the passwords. New accounts can also be set up in your name. A hacked Yahoo! account can be used to send malicious emails that damage your friendships, relationships, career and reputation.

Why not just use those long phrases like,
thequickfoxjumpedoverthefence
Is it to merge with the database looking like this,
^oL$d.16???
