I like the links fade in/out, but the overall layout is not so nice.

The one you had before was better for me.

Yes, the old design was deffenately better. It's mostly the photoshop effect used in the background image that I don't like...

The fade in/out links are really nice yeah , but as Mind_nl said your background image is whats letting you down.
Its very "photoshop tacky" bevel and emboss . Also the hard grimy feel doesnt work well with the sleek text at the top , i think you should rethink the layout to be honest.

ok everyone list what you do and don't like about the layout. this way i will know exactly what should be changed.

oke here's my thoughts on your new design:
-I didn't see your navigation (home-contact-register-advertise) the first time, it's easyly overlooked.
-On the right side you have a navigation pannel, thats what it says anyways, while it's really just links.
-The overall design is too dark, a dark background can work but usually doesn't.
-When changing font size in the browser your design gets screwed up (sponsored links on top of the 'site stats' header and the background picture breaking up)
I can't really find anything positive on the new design, sorry... Well I do kind of like the Sleek Pixel 'logo' at the top...

I really like the overall design, especially the backround blues you used. I like the funky text too, but I'd suggest maybe choosing a font that is a little easier to read.
