We have a forum that we are building. ? Does anyone have a suggestions as to the best method to build the forum. ? It is already live, and we are getting a lot of spammers, i.e. had to ban them, but what would the experts suggest for a great forum? ?

You could also relabel the boxes to leave no doubt:
Spammer's username:
Spammer's email:
Spammer's IP:
Then no one would enter their own info in the boxes.
Except perhaps an honest spammer...
Nah!  Can't remember the last time I saw one of those

A little bit a humor, but it sure seems like that and what you have to do.

Well, it is ordinary thing nowadays.. Personally I use paidforumposting.com service.. they can help you to drive more traffic to your forum and also moderate it at reasonable cost. they will assign a moderator to your forums that will log in and handle abuse reports (must be enabled in your software).
Hope it can be useful info for your request.

If you ask me, I have no time to delete spam and use Paidforumposting.com service to achieve this goal and drive more traffic to my sites.
They provide forum posting, moderation and other services.
Their pricing is reasonable. you will get 12% discount, using the code (2012).

It is a good & unique idea to stop spamming
