Software Engineer - Canada

Canterris is seeking a bright, highly talented, and motivated software engineer with strong PHP and Java skills to compliment our team and provide technical leadership in the ongoing development of our flagship Content Management infrastructure. As part of the software engineering group, the engineer will be part of a team developing a portfolio of products ranging from desktop based tools, J2EE based web clients and integration server infrastructure.

We are looking for a Software Engineer that is passionate about applying state of the art technology to produce products in the growing content management software marketplace. Strong technical leadership with particular emphasis on object-oriented programming and industry recognized design patterns is required. Experience developing tools and applications with rich user experience will be a plus. This person should be a good team player and will be part of cross functional teams.
Job Responsibilities:

- Define/design product architecture
- Programming in Java & PHP 5, applying object-oriented paradigms and proven design patterns
- Participate in technical design and code reviews
- Support customers on key escalations
- Serve as team interface to internal and external customers
- Write project documentation

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 5 years of development experience in Java and C++
- MS/BS in CS or equivalent. Strong Analytical skills.
- Minimum of 2 years of development experience in PHP
- Developed server side technologies with focus on superior design, clean APIs and performance consideration.
- Understanding of classification, workflow and rules engine will be extremely beneficial.
- Strong object oriented programming skills and expertise with common design patterns.
- Understanding and experience of MVC programming paradigms. Exposure to standard J2EE architectures is required. Exposure to application building framework such as Struts is desirable.
- Experience as a Technical Lead in a small hands-on engineering group
- Good written and communication skills (written documentation for projects)
- Additional Experience in programming with one or more of the following - (Java, Servlets, Swing. XML, JSP,DHTML/HTML, JavaScript)
- SQL experience is desirable
- User-interface design and development experience is desirable.
