RSS notifies the readers automatically whenever new content or news of their interest arrives at their website. It not only helps to build backlinks but also pull traffic.
Having RSS feed on your website is not mandatory but it is advised to have feeds if you update your content. It helps in cutting down manual efforts of content distribution.

RSS i maily used for the purpose of content syndication. If you haven't created your own RSS channel than yes your site doesn't have it.

RSS is important to update the status of your blog to the places you have syndicated it to like Facebook for example, another use of Rss feeds are you are able to create more links back to your site if used properly.

I used to use RSS to submit feeds created for the contents i have submited to article sites but because latest changes affected article submition programs such as wizard article submiter, they are not allowed now to send to their customers submition reports. Because of that I literally don't know where my submits went so i cant create RSS feeds :/

All you can use it now for is to RSS your own content to agregator sites just to let google know there there is something going on on your website.

Top 5 Benefits by RSS Feeds

    1. Reach out to new audience through RSS feed channels.

    2. Better search engine visibility.

    3. Can be a viable and cheap option compared to email newsletters.

    4. Easier and faster way for your loyal visitors to check out newly updated content.
