Can you share me, deep linking important for a website, after google updated 2012?

I am believed about it help in quick indexing of inner-pages, gain the over-all ranking of your website and also it helps you in ranking of targeted keywords in your inner-pages for your a website.

I don't think penguin effected links going to deep sources on your website. Panda affected this but not penguin.

Yeah, I use the strategy of deep linking to my blog on my businesses website. That way all the posts I create get juice from the blog index.
